If there ever becomes a filmed version of Domo ArigaDIE!!! I want it to be at least three hours long. This would allow enough time for about two CORRUPTED songs to be featured, in their massive entirety, on the soundtrack.
Melt Banana recommended CORRUPTED to me years and years ago (circa 2001?). I didn’t know what was in store for me when I special ordered my first CORRUPTED album, but I think it was a solid hour of me lying on my back paralyzed by the weight of their Osaka-doom metal! This was the heaviest, slowest metal I had heard and I loved it from here to the sludge pit. It was so different from the noise-chirp-craziness of Melt Banana, but just as extreme on the opposite end of the spectrum.
The piece featured here is their “Paso Inferior” album in its entirety. One track. A monolith of doom. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon.
I saw them live once at Shinjuku LOFT and my bowels were shaking all the way home: jiggling, trembling, bubbling. My ears rang for three days afterward. I still can’t hear right, still hear those cookie monster messages in Spanish gurgling around my brain. I don’t know what they’re trying to tell me. I wait for the next chord to sound. To ring. Like a gorge.
